LancasterGeneralHealth Family Medicine Residency Program

Message from the Director

Thank you for your interest in postdoctoral education and our General Practice Residency Program here at Lancaster General Health. Lancaster General Health has been and continues to be a leader in providing health care to the people of Lancaster County and the surrounding area. The recent establishment of the dental residency at LGH has furthered their commitment to education and to the overall health of their patients.

Our residents mainly provide dental care at the South East Lancaster Health Services Dental Clinic under the direct supervision of the program director. The dental clinic uses the latest materials and equipment such as: digital x-rays, electric handpieces for surgical removal of difficult teeth, rotary endodontics, nitrous oxide, and electronic dental records. An assistant is available at all times to assist the residents with patient care. Other clinical sites where the residents will provide care are the Welsh Mountain Dental Clinic, CHI St. Joseph’s Children Health Clinic in Columbia, PA, Family First Dental Clinic in York, PA, and Smilebuilderz in Lancaster, PA.

I believe that one of the aspects of the program that really makes it strong is that the dental residents work with talented, committed dental specialists including: an endodontist, periodontist, pediatric dentist, oral surgeon, and an advanced general dentist. These specialists are involved to assist the residents in patient care at SELHS and lecturing to the residents on the days they are in the clinic.

Lancaster is located in a wonderful part of Pennsylvania. The city is vibrant, the surrounding farmland is beautiful, the people are nice, and it is close to big cities such as Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington, DC.

I look forward to hearing from you if you have any questions in regards to the residency program. I encourage you to consider spending what I think will be a rewarding and fulfilling year in our general practice residency program.
